Apple is gearing up to unveil iOS 26, although the launch has been met with some criticism online, particularly regarding its new Liquid Glass redesign. While many anticipated AI enhancements remain absent, the upcoming operating system does have exciting news for users: a new Preview app that mirrors a cherished MacBook feature. This new Preview app, launching this September on iPhones and iPads, will allow users to view PDFs and images saved on iCloud or other file sources. Designed to streamline document management, the app will make it easier than ever to keep your files organized and accessible in one central location. Beyond simple viewing, the Preview app will enable users to edit PDFs and images directly. Features will include resizing, rotating, and adjusting files as necessary. In addition, users can take advantage of a built-in document scanner for digitizing paperwork quickly, as well as a PDF AutoFill function for completing forms with ease. The functionality will closely resemble that of the MacBook’s Preview app, with a notable change: when users open a PDF or image from the Files app, it will automatically launch in the new Preview app. While the interface will differ slightly from its desktop counterpart, it will utilize the updated document browser design introduced in iOS 18, ensuring a cohesive experience across Apple applications. With this update, Apple aims to enhance the productivity and functionality of its mobile devices, bringing a touch of MacBook convenience to iPhone users everywhere.
