This one could use less power: The Jeep Wagoneer S EV

Jeep is making waves in the electric vehicle market with the introduction of the Wagoneer S EV, although it’s important to note that this isn't the brand's inaugural electric offering. That title goes to the Jeep Avenger, a subcompact crossover available in Europe, which is unlikely to make its way to American roads. However, the Wagoneer S is tailored specifically for the U.S. market and aims to carve out a niche in the competitive midsize SUV category. As electrification continues to evolve amid uncertainty, Jeep, alongside its parent company Stellantis and sister brand Chrysler, has recently discontinued all plug-in hybrid models, signaling a robust commitment to fully electric vehicles. The Wagoneer S is built on Stellantis’ dedicated EV platform, which it shares with the powerful Dodge Charger. Measuring 192.4 inches (4,886 mm) in length, 74.8 inches (1,900 mm) in width, and 64.8 inches (1,645 mm) in height, the Wagoneer S stands out as a stylish vehicle that blends Jeep's iconic design with modern aerodynamic features. The rear wing, reminiscent of 90s rally hatchbacks, is not just for aesthetics; it plays a crucial role in reducing drag, contributing to an impressive overall drag coefficient of 0.29. Notably, the vehicle’s frontal area results in a CdA value of 8.67, which is significant for performance. Under the hood, the Wagoneer S houses a robust 100.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers an estimated range of 294 miles (473 km) based on the EPA test cycle. During an early 2025 drive, the more powerful Launch Edition was highlighted, but a recent week-long experience with the $65,200 Wagoneer S Limited showcased its impressive capabilities. Despite being slightly less powerful with 500 hp (400 kW) and 524 lb-ft (710 Nm) from its two electric motors, the Limited version still delivers a thrilling driving experience, making it a noteworthy contender in the electric SUV landscape.
