On Monday, Apple introduced its latest budget-friendly smartphone, the iPhone 17e, priced at $599. Set to hit the market on March 11, this device is equipped with the powerful A19 chip, also featured in the standard iPhone 17, and integrates Apple Intelligence for enhanced user experience. The iPhone 17e comes with a substantial 256 GB of storage, doubling the entry-level capacity of its predecessor. A significant upgrade in this model is the inclusion of MagSafe and Qi2 technology, enabling efficient wireless charging of up to 15W. Available in classic black and white, as well as a fresh soft pink, the iPhone 17e also boasts the latest C1X cellular modem. This advanced modem offers speeds up to twice that of the previous model's C1, while consuming 30% less energy. Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the 48-megapixel camera, identical to that of the iPhone 16e. The Fusion camera system allows for an optical-quality 2x Telephoto feature, giving users the flexibility of two cameras in one to capture stunning close-up shots. Video recording capabilities include 4K resolution with Dolby Vision at 60 frames per second, alongside Spatial Audio recording for an immersive listening experience when paired with AirPods or Apple Vision Pro. In terms of durability, the iPhone 17e is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance. Its 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display is safeguarded by Ceramic Shield 2, which reportedly offers triple the scratch resistance compared to the previous generation. Additionally, the smartphone supports Emergency SOS via satellite, Roadside Assistance, and the Find My feature for enhanced safety and connectivity.
