Infinite Machine, a micromobility startup based in New York, has unveiled its latest innovation, the Olto—a seated electric scooter priced at $3,495, set to begin shipping later this year. This new scooter boasts an impressive range of 40 miles, powered by a conveniently swappable 48V lithium-ion battery. The Olto reaches a top speed of 20 miles per hour on bike lanes and can hit 33 miles per hour off-road, thanks to its robust 750W rear hub motor. For enhanced safety, it features both high and low beam headlights along with turn signals, ensuring visibility in various conditions. One of the standout features of the Olto is its modular design. Users can easily attach or detach components commonly found on larger cargo bikes, such as child carriers, rear racks, or baskets. Additionally, fold-out pedals provide pedal-assist functionality, allowing riders to experience a hybrid between a scooter and an e-bike. The scooter is designed to comfortably seat two people, supported by a dual-suspension frame for a smooth ride. At a price point significantly lower than its flagship model, the P1—which retails for $10,000—Olto is positioned as an accessible option in the competitive electric vehicle market. Infinite Machine has gained attention since the debut of the P1 scooter in 2023 and secured $9 million in funding in late 2024, led by Andreessen Horowitz. Founder and CEO Joseph Cohen expressed his ambition for Infinite Machine to have a presence in every major city globally. However, for now, the focus remains on tackling the challenging U.S. market. Cohen highlighted the company’s commitment to offering a product that surpasses the current market options, stating, "Our mission is to create something that resonates with users more than the existing plastic scooters that resemble printers. We aim to offer a product that feels like your favorite car—except it's not a car, but a solution that enhances urban living."
