London-based tech innovator Nothing has officially unveiled its inaugural over-the-ear headphones, dubbed Headphone (1). This launch marks a significant expansion for the company, which previously entered the audio market with the release of the Ear 2 open-ear headphones last year. Designed in partnership with renowned British audio brand KEF, the Headphone (1) showcases the distinctive transparent aesthetics that Nothing has become famous for. While the headphones are somewhat bulky for their category, they deliver effective adaptive noise cancellation alongside a transparent listening mode. One standout feature is the adaptive bass enhancement, which enhances audio across various music styles. Additionally, users can enjoy immersive spatial audio, providing a three-dimensional listening experience complemented by dynamic head tracking that brings sounds to life. The design incorporates tactile buttons, moving away from touch sensors. This allows users to activate their AI assistant or ChatGPT via the Nothing X app with ease. The volume roller serves multiple functions, including play, pause, and toggling noise cancellation, all while producing a satisfying click during use. While some users may find the headphones slightly heavy, they remain comfortable for extended listening sessions. Nothing touts impressive battery performance, offering up to 80 hours of playtime, which drops to 35 hours with noise cancelling activated, along with a quick recharge capability. Preorders for the Headphone (1) are set to launch in the U.S., U.K., and other regions starting July 4, 2025, with a price tag of $299.
