OpenAI has unveiled a new subscription option for its ChatGPT service in India, called ChatGPT Go. This plan is priced at ₹399 per month, inclusive of GST, and is initially being launched in India, with the potential for expansion to other regions in the future. Nick Turley, the Vice President and head of the ChatGPT app, announced on X that this new plan offers Indian users significantly enhanced capabilities. Subscribers will enjoy tenfold increases in usage limits, including message counts, image generation, and file uploads compared to the free version. Additionally, the memory capacity for users has doubled. A noteworthy feature for Indian subscribers is the ability to view prices in rupees and make payments through UPI, which Turley mentioned was a key request from users. He emphasized that OpenAI intends to gather feedback from the Indian market to refine the product before considering a broader rollout. The Go plan allows access to GPT-5, faster image creation, and extended memory, as well as support for various projects and custom GPTs. However, it should be noted that certain advanced research tools are still limited compared to the higher-tier plans. Positioned between the free and Plus options, the free plan restricts access to GPT-5, offers limited file uploads, and provides slower image generation along with minimal memory. On the other hand, the Plus plan, which costs ₹1,999 per month, includes enhanced reasoning capabilities with GPT-5, a wider array of tools, and features like Sora video generation and Codex agent access. For those seeking the most comprehensive experience, OpenAI’s Pro subscription is available at ₹19,900 per month, providing unlimited access to GPT-5, expanded memory, and early access to experimental features. With the introduction of ChatGPT Go, OpenAI is clearly aiming to cater to users who desire more than the free service offers but do not need the full spectrum of tools available in its premium tiers.
