On Valentine's Day, a Crew Dragon spacecraft successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS) at 5:14 PM ET (22:14 UTC), marking a significant moment for the crew aboard. The arrival of four astronauts—Jessica Meir and Jack Hathaway from NASA, Sophie Adenot representing the European Space Agency, and Andrey Fedyaev from Roscosmos—has elevated the total crew count to seven, restoring the ISS to its full operational capacity. The number of astronauts aboard the ISS can vary, influenced by crew rotations and the shorter missions of private astronauts. Since the regular operation of Crew Dragon began in late 2020, NASA has aimed to maintain a minimum of four astronauts from the US Orbital Segment (USOS), which includes personnel from the United States, Canada, Europe, and Japan. These astronauts are specially trained to manage the segments of the station that NASA oversees. Earlier this year, NASA faced a unique challenge when one of the Crew-11 astronauts encountered a medical emergency shortly after the new year began. As a result, the agency made the unprecedented decision to return this astronaut home ahead of schedule. Although the individual has not been publicly identified, reports indicate that they are currently recovering back on Earth.
