Intel is on the verge of achieving an impressive ninth consecutive day of stock gains, seeing an increase of approximately 56% during this period. This remarkable performance marks the company's best streak of gains over nine days since at least the 1970s. The last time Intel experienced such a winning streak was in September 2023, while the longest streak on record—a 13-day run—occurred in May 2005. The company's recent surge can be attributed to several key announcements and partnerships, notably with tech giants like Google and Elon Musk's Terafab initiative. Just last week, Intel revealed an expansion of its collaboration with Google, which will leverage Intel's latest Xeon 6 central processing units to handle artificial intelligence training and inference tasks. Additionally, Intel has joined the ambitious Terafab project, which Musk introduced last month. This advanced AI chip manufacturing complex is set to be located in Austin, Texas, and aims to create custom chips for companies including SpaceX, xAI, and Tesla. On social media, Intel shared an image of CEO Lip-Bu Tan alongside Musk, highlighting the partnership. Intel emphasized its capacity to design, manufacture, and package ultra-high-performance chips at scale, which it believes will significantly contribute to Terafab's goal of producing 1 terawatt of compute power annually to support advancements in AI and robotics. Moreover, Intel made headlines earlier this month by repurchasing the remaining shares of its Ireland chip fabrication facility for $14.2 billion. This acquisition reflects a renewed confidence in Intel's financial strength, particularly following the sale of a 49% stake in 2024. Intel, alongside Advanced Micro Devices, remains a leader in the CPU market. Recently, Dion Harris, who leads AI infrastructure at Nvidia, noted that CPUs are becoming a bottleneck for AI and agentic workflows. Unlike competitors AMD and Nvidia, which outsource their chip production, Intel continues to design and manufacture its own silicon. In a significant move, the U.S. government acquired a 10% stake in Intel, recognizing it as the sole domestic producer of advanced chips. Following this, Nvidia announced a $5 billion investment and a technology partnership with Intel, with CEO Jensen Huang describing the collaboration as an "incredible investment."
