Shares of Intel experienced a remarkable 14% increase on Tuesday, achieving a new all-time high as the chip giant continues its impressive performance since April. This surge is linked to a Bloomberg report indicating that Apple is negotiating with both Intel and Samsung to manufacture the primary processors for its devices in the United States. Historically reliant on the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. for its chips, Apple has not provided any comments regarding this potential partnership. Both Intel and Samsung also chose to remain silent on the matter. This latest stock spike follows Intel's record month in its 55-year history on the Nasdaq, where it saw a staggering 114% rise in April, pushing its market capitalization beyond $470 billion. Several strategic partnerships have contributed to this upward trend. Recently, Intel announced an expansion of its collaboration with Google and revealed plans to join Elon Musk’s Terafab project. Additionally, in a significant move last month, Intel agreed to repurchase its Fab 34 chip facility in Ireland for $14.2 billion. The growing demand for central processing units, particularly due to the rise of artificial intelligence, has played a crucial role in this turnaround. During a recent earnings call, Intel's CEO Lip-Bu Tan emphasized the importance of CPUs as the 'indispensable foundation of the AI era.' This turnaround is especially noteworthy for Intel, which has faced challenges in keeping pace with the AI boom amid significant manufacturing delays. Since the U.S. government acquired a 10% stake in Intel last August, investing $8.9 billion, the company's stock has surged over 330%. Nvidia's announcement of a $5 billion investment in September has also been a catalyst for this remarkable recovery. Former President Donald Trump recently praised Intel's stock performance, stating in a Truth Social post, "Intel Stock continues to rise. I'm very proud of that company... Congratulations to Intel on doing such a great job and, more importantly, congratulations to the People of the United States for making such a good investment!"
