Instagram has officially launched its inaugural iPad app, crafted specifically for the expansive tablet display and aimed at enhancing the user experience. This much-anticipated update is now accessible worldwide, featuring a sleek new interface, improved navigation tools, and ample space for content interaction. Meta emphasized that the app is tailored to cater to users who prefer a 'lean back' entertainment style, prominently showcasing Reels upon opening. Users will find the app directly launching into Reels, while Stories conveniently reside at the top of the interface, and messaging is just a single tap away. The iPad version introduces an innovative 'Following' tab, designed to help users stay updated with their favorite accounts. This tab includes three distinct feed options: • All: A mix of recommended posts and Reels from all followed accounts. • Friends: Updates from mutual connections. • Latest: A chronological feed displaying the most recent posts and Reels first. Users have the flexibility to prioritize these feeds according to their preferences, granting them greater control over their viewing experience. Additionally, the app has been optimized for larger screens, allowing for simultaneous viewing of messages and notifications. Users can also expand comments on Reels while enjoying the video in full size. Meta described this new app as 'the Instagram you love, now with more space to play.' The Instagram app for iPad is compatible with devices running iPadOS 15.1 or later and is available for free download on the App Store. Furthermore, Meta has confirmed that a tablet-friendly version is also set to be released for Android tablets in the near future.
