Instagram’s latest feature lets you go back see your watched Reels

Instagram has unveiled an exciting new feature that allows users to revisit their previously watched Reels, aptly named "Watch History." This update, announced on Friday, comes as a direct response to user requests and aims to enhance the overall viewing experience on the platform. With this feature, users can easily locate videos they may have missed or were unable to save. Whether interrupted by a phone call or distracted by other activities, Instagram users will no longer have to worry about losing track of their favorite Reels. Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, emphasized the utility of this feature, stating, "Have you ever tried to get back to a reel that you’d seen on Instagram and you just can’t find it? Well, there is a new feature that should help." To access Watch History, users can navigate to their Profile, then to Settings, and under 'Your Activity,' they will find the new option. This feature provides a similar function to TikTok's Watch History, allowing users to filter their viewing history by date, whether it be the past week, month, or a specific date range. Additionally, users have the option to remove any Reels they no longer wish to see in their history. What sets Instagram's Watch History apart is its flexibility. The platform allows users to sort their watched videos in both chronological and reverse chronological order or even by the content creator. Previously, users had to rely on less convenient methods, such as downloading data from the app, to retrieve lost videos. With this new feature, finding previously viewed content becomes significantly easier, aligning Instagram's Reels experience more closely with that of TikTok. Since its inception as a competitor to TikTok, Instagram has continually expanded Reels with features that enhance user engagement. Recently, the platform has introduced options for creators to link multiple Reels in a series and support for Picture-in-Picture viewing, further enriching the user experience in the realm of short-form video content.
