In an unprecedented event, the T-CHIP Semicon Constitution Summit in Hyderabad witnessed an exciting initiative named Pitch2Press, where 111 innovators showcased their ideas directly to journalists instead of investors. This unique concept was revealed by Sundeep Makthala, the Founder and Chairman of the Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) and the mastermind behind the T-CHIP Summit, in an interview. Makthala explained that the goal of Pitch2Press is to enhance the visibility and credibility of these innovators through media exposure. He stated, "Traditionally, innovators pitch to investors; however, through Pitch2Press, we are enabling them to present their ideas to journalists. If their stories gain media coverage, the reach and authenticity will significantly increase." The initiative received an overwhelming response, with over 900 applications submitted from Telangana and other regions. From this pool, 111 innovators were selected to pitch their projects throughout the day. Makthala highlighted the importance of journalists in bringing unsung innovators into the limelight, noting, "Media coverage can open numerous doors for these innovators, helping them build trust and connect with potential investors and customers." Alongside Pitch2Press, the summit aimed to establish a comprehensive roadmap for India’s semiconductor ecosystem. Makthala revealed that his team recently visited Taiwan to study its semiconductor model and has crafted a strategic plan that includes four key pillars: Talent, Design, Manufacturing, and Applications. He stated, "This Semiconductor Constitution will serve as a blueprint for developing the ecosystem both in India and globally. Such a summit has never occurred before on an international scale." Talent development is also a critical focus, with plans to prepare 10,000 engineers for the industry by 2030, especially in electronics and electrical fields, given that India produces approximately 55,000 to 60,000 engineering graduates annually. An MoU has already been signed with the state government to facilitate this initiative. Makthala emphasized the significant impact that innovation and semiconductor advancement could have on employment rates, state revenues, and global competitiveness. He concluded by stating the necessity for governments to foster innovation and support startups, encouraging innovators to reach for global markets.
