Infosys bring OpenAI’s AI coding and automation tools to its platform: What it means for engineers

In a significant move, OpenAI has joined forces with Infosys, one of India's leading IT service providers, to incorporate its AI-powered tools into the Topaz AI platform. This collaboration aims to enhance software development processes, streamline operations through automation, and facilitate the large-scale implementation of AI systems, with an initial focus on software engineering. According to a press release from Infosys, the partnership will concentrate on high-impact business sectors, integrating various tools such as Codex for AI-assisted coding, automation workflows, prebuilt AI agents, alongside Infosys’ proprietary poly-AI systems and governance frameworks. This trend of AI companies collaborating with major IT service firms is gaining momentum, as seen with OpenAI’s previous partnership with HCLTech and Infosys's engagement with Anthropic. The alliance allows OpenAI to leverage Infosys's expansive network of enterprise clients around the globe. Operating in over 60 countries, Infosys already caters to a multitude of businesses, providing OpenAI with a streamlined avenue to distribute its AI solutions. The introduction of these tools is expected to empower companies to transition from experimental phases to practical, large-scale AI integration in their operations. Denise Dresser, Chief Revenue Officer at OpenAI, emphasized that Infosys's extensive experience in large-scale software transformations will enable enterprises to deploy Codex in various areas, including modernizing legacy code, automating code reviews, detecting vulnerabilities, and enhancing application development. This partnership marks a pivotal step in accelerating AI adoption across industries. Infosys has been intensifying its focus on AI, as evident from its recent report showing Rs 25 billion in AI-driven revenue for the last quarter, accounting for approximately 5.5% of its total earnings. Despite these advancements, Infosys’s stock has experienced a notable decline this year, dropping over 22% amid concerns regarding growth prospects, anxieties surrounding AI, and economic uncertainties linked to US-Iran relations.
