India set to redefine 10.35 million jobs by 2030 as Agentic AI drives workforce shift: ServiceNow report

India stands on the brink of a significant workforce revolution, with projections indicating that 10.35 million jobs will be transformed by 2030 due to the rise of Agentic AI. This insight emerges from the ServiceNow AI Skills Research 2025, conducted in collaboration with Pearson, showcasing India's rapid progress in artificial intelligence maturity within the Asia-Pacific region. Sumeet Mathur, Senior Vice President and Managing Director at ServiceNow India Technology and Business Center, emphasized the critical phase of India's AI journey. He remarked, "Agentic AI is not only reshaping existing roles but also paving the way for the creation of over 3 million new tech jobs by 2030." The report's findings reveal that Indian companies are emerging as leaders in AI adoption, supported by a combination of visionary strategies, talent management, and extensive implementation plans. More than half of the enterprises surveyed reported enhanced efficiency and productivity due to AI integration, with 57% acknowledging tangible operational improvements. Job roles impacted by AI are categorized into two distinct groups. High-automation roles, such as change managers and payroll clerks, are increasingly being automated, while high-augmentation roles like system administrators and implementation consultants are utilizing AI tools to augment their effectiveness. Key sectors anticipated to experience the most significant changes include manufacturing, which could see 8 million roles affected, followed by retail with 7.6 million and education with 2.5 million roles. India's status as home to the largest youth population and a digital-first economy positions it to add an impressive 3 million new tech workers in the coming five years. Mathur stated, "India has a unique opportunity to establish itself as a global leader by fostering AI-ready talent, innovating workflows, and reshaping business models for continuous advancement. The shift from fragmented initiatives to a cohesive strategy is imperative for competing on a global scale." According to the report, 25% of Indian companies are already advancing through the AI maturity transformation phase, outpacing regional competitors like Singapore and Australia. Additionally, nearly 14% of tech budgets are now earmarked for AI initiatives, highlighting the growing importance of roles such as AI Configurators, Experience Designers, and Data Scientists. Despite the positive trends, challenges remain. Approximately 30% of enterprises cite data security as a primary concern, while 26% express uncertainty regarding the skills needed for future advancements. This underscores an urgent need for comprehensive reskilling efforts and strategic clarity in AI implementation.
