A recent Randstad survey has uncovered that Indian employees possess a significantly more positive outlook on artificial intelligence (AI) compared to their global counterparts. An impressive 89% of Indian workers believe that AI has enhanced their productivity, a stark contrast to the worldwide average of just 62%. This insight comes from Randstad's Workmonitor 2026 report, which surveyed over 27,000 employees and 1,225 employers across 35 different markets. Confidence in technology usage stands out among Indian workers, with 86% expressing assurance in employing the latest tools, surpassing the global average of 69%. However, the report also highlights a notable disparity; although 84% of Indian talent foresee AI significantly influencing their roles, only 55% of employers share this belief. In a global context, one in five workers do not anticipate AI impacting their jobs at all. The report emphasizes a growing chasm between employee optimism and employer caution. While 79% of Indian employees are optimistic about their organizations' growth in the coming year, only 51% of global workers feel the same. Despite 90% of employers expressing confidence in their business growth, only slightly more than half of the talent aligns with this sentiment. Trust is another area where Indian employees excel, with 89% expressing confidence in their company’s leadership and 88% showing trust in their colleagues, both figures exceeding the global averages of 72% and 76%, respectively. Interestingly, the survey indicates a shift in priorities among employees. Although salary is a significant factor for job seekers, with 81% worldwide stating it as their top consideration, work-life balance has emerged as the primary reason for employees to remain in their current positions. In India, 57% of respondents cited work-life balance as their main motivator, far surpassing the global average of 46% and overshadowing concerns about salary and job security. Additionally, the survey revealed that 52% of Indian workers are proactively seeking opportunities to enhance their skills independently, taking charge of their relevance in the job market outside of traditional employer initiatives. Job listings requiring skills related to AI have skyrocketed by 1,587% globally, indicating significant transformations in workplace dynamics on the horizon.
