Hyundai gives the Ioniq 5 a huge price cut for model-year 2026

In a significant move to enhance its appeal in the electric vehicle market, Hyundai has announced substantial price reductions for the Ioniq 5 in the 2026 model year. This adjustment comes on the heels of major automakers like Ford, General Motors, and Tesla re-evaluating their strategies following changes to clean vehicle tax credits. The entry-level Ioniq 5 SE RWD, which had a price tag of $42,600 for the 2025 model year, is now available for just $35,000. Other versions are seeing even larger price cuts, ranging from $9,150 to $9,800. For instance, the Ioniq 5 XRT's starting price has dropped from $55,500 to an attractive $46,275. Randy Parker, the president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, emphasized the company's commitment to making the Ioniq 5 a leading choice for electric vehicle enthusiasts. "Hyundai is taking bold steps to ensure our award-winning Ioniq 5 remains a top choice for EV buyers. This pricing realignment reflects our commitment to delivering exceptional technology and innovation without compromise," he stated. Notably, these price reductions apply solely to Ioniq 5 models manufactured in the United States. The Ioniq 5 N, produced in Korea, along with the Ioniq 6 sedan and the Ioniq 9 three-row SUV, were not included in the announcement. However, Hyundai clarified that these 2025 models are still eligible for a manufacturer's incentive of $7,500. Last year, Hyundai made enhancements to the Ioniq 5, introducing features like native NACS ports and rectifying certain design oversights, such as the addition of a rear windshield wiper, further solidifying its standing as a competitive electric vehicle.
