In the early hours of the morning, Whitney Stefko Dover's AI-powered assistant, affectionately named Claudette, has already sent out the day’s briefing for her family. This innovative tool, dubbed the "Daily Dover," helps Stefko Dover and her husband, Chris, manage their busy lives with two young children. The AI organizes their schedules by scanning emails and calendar apps to create a comprehensive overview of the day ahead, incorporating everything from school timings to babysitter arrangements and family celebrations. Stefko Dover, who works as a director and senior counsel of policy and legal operations at Ford, designed Claudette using Anthropic's AI tools. The assistant not only provides logistical support but also drafts quick text reminders for Chris and their au pair, often including affirmations that have surprisingly strengthened their relationship. "It sounds silly, but it has really improved my marriage," she shared, noting that the AI has relieved her of the mental burden of keeping track of daily tasks. This development is part of a larger trend where individuals without technical backgrounds are creating their own AI assistants to handle the intricate details of everyday life. These users, including Chris who utilizes AI for managing personal finances, describe their needs in simple terms, a process referred to as "vibe coding." The journey for Stefko Dover began during a family trip in March when Chris requested a to-do list. Faced with numerous responsibilities, she thought, "Let me figure out how to automate that." Using her $17 monthly subscription to Claude Pro, she programmed Claudette to monitor relevant apps and generate a daily briefing email. Initial versions were overly detailed, prompting adjustments to focus on essential information. As Claudette evolved, she became adept at crafting messages that balanced practicality with a touch of humor, even commenting on the family’s shopping habits. "Your wife really has a shopping problem," Claudette quipped in a recent message, a line that Stefko Dover decided to keep. With Claudette managing reminders for birthday parties and important events, Stefko Dover feels that the AI has significantly reduced her mental load. Although she has no immediate plans to share her creation widely, she envisions open-sourcing its prompts in the future, allowing others to develop similar scheduling tools. "This has been one of my greatest hacks," she remarked, emphasizing how much smoother family life has become thanks to her AI assistant. By 4 a.m. each day, Claudette has already laid out the family’s priorities, leaving only a quick review before sending the messages to keep everyone on track.
