After purchasing a new couch, the Barr family found themselves with an old one that needed a new home. To kickstart the selling process, my wife reached out in a local email group and quickly received interest from a potential buyer, who asked for the model details to avoid a barrage of questions. Unfortunately, the couch was so old that all identifying product codes had faded into obscurity. In a bid to uncover its origins, I snapped a couple of photos and uploaded them to Gemini, Google's AI chatbot, seeking assistance. Within moments, I received a response that identified it as the 'Tillary Sectional,' a popular modular sofa from West Elm known for its distinct low back and deep seating. Gemini provided additional insights, noting that the Tillary was likely purchased around 2013 and offered tips for identifying similar products. It mentioned features like zippered compartments for storage, which could help confirm the couch's identity. Armed with this information, I relayed the details to the interested buyer. We successfully closed the deal for $200, which surprisingly equates to nearly ten months of a Gemini Pro subscription. This holiday season, the Barr family looks forward to lounging on our new, stylish couch, affectionately dubbed the 'AI bubble couch.'
