Honor reveals a new smartphone with a fold-out robotic camera arm

In a groundbreaking announcement, Honor, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has revealed its ambitious plans for a new smartphone featuring a unique robotic camera arm. This innovative technology allows the camera to extend out from the device, promising to redefine mobile photography. Set to provide further insights at the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona early next year, Honor’s latest creation is part of a broader trend within the Chinese electronics market, which is challenging traditional hardware designs by integrating advanced artificial intelligence. Earlier this year, Roborock, another Beijing-based company, introduced a robot vacuum cleaner equipped with an extendable arm that utilizes AI and sensors to navigate around obstacles. Honor’s device, dubbed the “robot phone,” is expected to incorporate similar cutting-edge technology, although specific details remain under wraps. In addition to this innovative camera feature, Honor is also enhancing its smartphone experience with AI tools that assist users in various tasks. These include scanning Chinese e-commerce platforms for tailored shopping deals, hailing taxis with ease, and providing photography tips to optimize camera positioning. This initiative is part of Honor’s ambitious strategy, which includes a remarkable investment of $10 billion over the next five years, aimed at transforming the company into a leader in AI-driven devices.
