Honor says its ‘Robot phone’ with moving camera can dance to music

Honor has unveiled exciting details about its upcoming 'Robot phone', showcasing a unique device featuring a movable camera arm. The Chinese tech giant initially teased this innovative device earlier in the year and provided further insights ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The company plans to launch this groundbreaking phone in the latter half of the year. What sets this phone apart is its ability to respond independently to various situations without requiring commands. Honor has emphasized that the robotic assistant possesses a unique 'personality', capable of interactive gestures such as nodding or shaking its head. Notably, the robot can even dance along to music, providing a dynamic user experience. During the presentation, Honor demonstrated the robot's capabilities through a video where a user sought clothing advice. The robotic arm reacted by nodding or shaking its head to suggest outfits, showcasing its interactive nature. At the heart of this device lies a remarkable 200-megapixel camera mounted on a moving three-axis gimbal, equipped with advanced stabilization technology. This ensures smooth video and photo capture, complemented by a Super Steady mode for enhanced stability during recordings. Moreover, the phone introduces the Spinshot feature, which allows the robotic camera to pivot by 90 or 180 degrees, enabling cinematic shots. The AI-powered object tracking enhances video calls, making them more fluid as the camera follows the user seamlessly. This technology is positioned as an advanced version of Apple’s Center Stage feature. To control the robotic camera's movements, Honor developed its own micro motor, employing techniques from foldable phone designs to ensure durability within the device’s compact structure. The materials used for the robotic arm are similar to those found in the Honor Magic V6’s hinge, boasting a tensile strength of 2800 MPa. In addition to the Robot phone, Honor also announced the release of the Magic V6 foldable phone, the MagicPad 4 tablet, and the MagicBook 14 laptop during the event.
