Navigating the complexities of crafting effective prompts for AI chatbots can be daunting. Recognizing this challenge, Hero, a productivity startup launched by former Meta employees, is stepping in with a groundbreaking solution. They have announced an invite-only autocompletion SDK designed to streamline the process of generating AI prompts by predicting user input based on the context. Imagine booking a flight and simply typing "Book a flight." With Hero's SDK, the system will automatically populate essential fields such as "to," "from," "on date," "at time," "airline," and "returning on." This innovative tool is also beneficial for users of AI-driven image and video generators, assisting with parameters like object, style, location, landscape, and camera angle. Saharsh Vedi, a Hero engineer involved in developing this feature, emphasized the traditional need for extensive interaction with AI applications to achieve desired results. He noted that with this new autocomplete function, users can achieve their goals with significantly fewer prompts, sometimes even just one. Brad Kowalk, co-founder of Hero, shared insights with TechCrunch, explaining that the company employs a series of models to anticipate what users will type next. He highlighted the efficiency of the AI autocomplete, stating it can complete tasks ten times faster by minimizing the necessary exchanges between user and AI. This advancement opens up a myriad of new applications, including travel, commerce, advertisements, and customer support. Additionally, Kowalk pointed out the potential for cost savings on server resources due to reduced message exchanges. The concept behind this technology stems from Kowalk and co-founder Seung W. Lee's experiences with augmented reality at Meta, where they learned the importance of a simplified interface due to screen size constraints. With a successful $4 million seed funding round last year, Hero has now secured an additional $3 million led by Forerunner Ventures, with plans for further expansion. Currently, Hero is testing the SDK within its app, which assists users in scheduling meetings and connecting with friends through autocomplete prompts. This feature is expected to launch in the coming months. Furthermore, the company is negotiating with Koah Labs to develop AI-driven advertisements that seamlessly integrate into autocomplete suggestions.
