Healthify upgrades its AI assistant Ria with real-time conversation capabilities

Healthify, a health tech startup backed by Khosla Ventures, has unveiled an upgraded version of its AI-powered health assistant, Ria, enhancing its capabilities to engage in real-time conversations. This innovative feature allows users to communicate with Ria through voice and camera inputs to obtain personalized nutritional insights and exercise guidance. With the integration of advanced AI models, Ria now supports over 50 languages, including 14 Indian languages, and is capable of handling mixed-language inputs, such as Hinglish and Spanglish. This conversational mode, powered by OpenAI technology, aims to facilitate a more intuitive user experience, making it easier for individuals to log their meals and workouts. Users can inquire about their health metrics over specified time frames—daily, weekly, or monthly—and receive tailored information by connecting Ria to various health devices, including fitness trackers and glucose monitors. This functionality enables the assistant to provide insights on exercise, sleep quality, and glucose levels, along with actionable recommendations. In a demonstration, Ria showcased its ability to interact via Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, allowing users to log food items simply by pointing the device's camera at them. This feature is designed to create a seamless experience, enabling users to multitask during their sessions, whether generating workout plans or logging dietary goals. Healthify is also focusing on enhancing user onboarding by positioning the conversational assistant as a central element for gathering unstructured insights. This approach mirrors trends seen in modern dating apps that use similar interfaces to enhance user interactions. To further personalize user experiences, Healthify plans to implement a long-term memory feature that tracks preferences and health changes, enabling Ria to provide customized recommendations. The assistant will also be available during consultations with coaches and nutritionists, offering real-time data access and transcriptions for better communication. CEO Tushar Vashisht emphasized that Ria has been trained on extensive conversational data, ensuring it delivers reliable and relevant advice. Competing applications like Alma, Cal AI, and MyFitnessPal have also introduced voice and image input options for food logging, but Healthify believes its unique live conversation capabilities and data integration give it a competitive advantage. Additionally, Ria will soon feature automatic meal logging by detecting food photos from users' galleries, further simplifying the tracking process. Healthify is committed to building a comprehensive health ecosystem focused on nutrition-driven data and is set to introduce a new AI subscription plan in the U.S. for $20 per month, which includes the updated Ria assistant and meal planning services. With over 45 million registered users and millions of active monthly participants, Healthify is poised for growth, with plans to collaborate with health tracking device companies for enhanced data integration and potential new funding opportunities on the horizon.
