HCLTech to acquire Guardian India; nearly 2,000 employees to join the IT giant

In a significant move, HCLTech has announced a new seven-year agreement with The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, which includes the acquisition of Guardian India, the insurer's global capability center. This strategic partnership will see nearly 2,000 employees from Guardian India transitioning to HCLTech as part of a dedicated Strategic Business Unit aimed at enhancing Guardian's technology and operations. The collaboration seeks to expedite Guardian's AI-driven modernization initiatives across its technology and operations while supporting its long-term growth objectives. HCLTech will leverage its AI Service Transformation Platform, AI Force, to foster the development of innovative AI solutions tailored for the insurance sector, ultimately improving efficiency and reducing operational friction. As part of this acquisition, Guardian India's robust team will bolster HCLTech's capabilities, with Karunakaran Azhisur stepping in as the leader of the new Strategic Business Unit. This expansion underscores HCLTech's commitment to strengthening its presence in the insurance industry and enhancing operational excellence. Steve Rullo, Chief Digital and Technology Officer at Guardian, emphasized the importance of this partnership in scaling AI across their enterprise. He stated, "Together with HCLTech, we are enhancing our operations to promote consistency and scalability, while investing in capabilities that differentiate Guardian and create value for our stakeholders." Srinivasan Seshadri, Chief Growth Officer and Global Head of Financial Services at HCLTech, noted that this agreement signifies their ongoing leadership in the insurance domain. He expressed enthusiasm about welcoming the talented team from Guardian and highlighted the unique opportunity to co-create products and intellectual property that will further enrich HCLTech's expertise and enhance client success. This agreement builds on HCLTech's existing relationship with Guardian, aimed at driving technological and talent transformation, optimizing operations, and improving customer experiences. HCLTech, with over 223,000 employees across 60 countries, reported a consolidated revenue of $14.8 billion for the fiscal year ending June 2026.
