Greptile, a startup leveraging artificial intelligence for code reviews, is currently in discussions to secure $30 million in a Series A funding round, potentially valuing the company at $180 million. According to insiders, Benchmark partner Eric Vishria is expected to lead this initiative, although the deal remains unfinalized and terms could evolve. Founded by Dasksh Gupta shortly after his graduation from Georgia Tech in 2023, Greptile successfully completed the Y Combinator program in early 2024, where it raised an initial $4 million seed round led by Initialized Capital. Gupta has previously described the AI tool developed by his company as akin to having an experienced coworker, capable of understanding complex code and identifying bugs that might escape human reviewers. The competitive landscape for AI-based code review solutions is fierce, with significant players such as Graphite and Coderabbit posing challenges. Graphite recently closed a $52 million Series B round led by Accel, while Coderabbit secured a $16 million Series A last year from CRV. This intense competition has reportedly led Greptile to adopt a demanding work culture, as Gupta emphasized in a post on X. He noted that employees often work from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., including weekends, highlighting that the startup prioritizes performance over work-life balance. In interviews, Gupta reiterated the importance of maximum effort in a crowded field, stating that only the top companies in software gain attention. Despite the pressures of its work environment, securing a prominent venture capital firm like Benchmark could significantly impact Greptile's growth trajectory. Both Greptile and Benchmark have yet to comment on the ongoing funding discussions.
