Granola raises $125M, hits $1.5B valuation as it expands from meeting notetaker to enterprise AI app

Granola, a rising star in the AI-driven meeting transcription space, has successfully raised $125 million in Series C funding. This latest round, spearheaded by Danny Rimer from Index Ventures and supported by Mamoon Hamid from Kleiner Perkins, has propelled the company's valuation to an impressive $1.5 billion, a significant rise from $250 million in its previous funding round. The latest investment brings Granola's total funding to $192 million, coming just months after a $43 million round. Originally designed as a prosumer tool for transcribing meetings and generating notes, Granola is rapidly evolving to cater to enterprise needs. The company has already begun collaborating with several notable enterprises, including Vanta, Gusto, Asana, and Mistral AI. In conjunction with the funding announcement, Granola unveiled a new feature called Spaces—dedicated workspaces for teams that allow for organized collaboration. Users can create folders within these spaces, complete with customizable access controls and the ability to query notes based on these categories. Recognizing the growing competition in AI meeting transcription, Granola is also introducing two new APIs designed to integrate note context into broader AI workflows. The personal API enables users to access their notes, while the enterprise API provides administrators with the capability to manage team-specific information. These developments come in response to user feedback regarding previous changes that disrupted local AI agent workflows. Co-founder Chris Pedregal emphasized that the adjustments to data storage were necessary for the application’s functionality and promised that APIs would enable users to access their data more efficiently. Granola is currently integrating its app with several tools, including ChatGPT and Figma, and is actively seeking to partner with additional services. As the demand for effective meeting note-taking solutions rises, Granola aims to distinguish itself by facilitating actionable insights from transcripts, enabling companies to streamline follow-up tasks and enhance their decision-making processes. The competitive landscape includes players like Read AI and Fireflies, who are similarly focused on transforming meeting notes into valuable business actions.
