Grammarly, renowned for its English language assistance, is broadening its capabilities by adding support for five additional languages: Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, and Italian. This expansion allows the company to offer advanced suggestions for paragraph rewrites, focusing on tone, style, and flow in these new languages. In addition to grammar and spelling checks, users can now translate text inline in 19 different languages, enhancing the writing experience for all users, whether they are on free or paid plans. Ailian Gan, Director of Product Management at Grammarly, emphasized that this move is in response to customer demands for multilingual support, aiming to cater to their diverse communication needs across various platforms. With a reported 40 million daily active users, Grammarly is clearly positioning itself to attract even more users with this latest feature. The company previously tested its multilingual tools with a million participants, yielding positive feedback, although specific usage statistics were not disclosed. Recently, Grammarly has been on a roll with new developments, including the introduction of AI functionalities and a redesigned user experience for document editing, thanks to its acquisition of Coda, a productivity startup. Looking ahead, the company plans to integrate multilingual support into its AI features, further enhancing its offerings for global users.
