Google is reportedly developing support for its Quick Share feature on iPhones and MacBooks, as detailed in a recent report by Android Authority. Speculation regarding the arrival of Quick Share on iOS has been circulating for about a year, but recent leaks provide more concrete evidence that this file-sharing system, co-created by Google and Samsung, may soon become available for Apple users. For those unfamiliar, Quick Share enables seamless transfer of files such as photos, videos, documents, and links between nearby devices without the need for an internet connection, app downloads, or account logins. Initially launched on Android devices, the feature was later integrated into ChromeOS and Windows. However, iPhone users have been left out, often resorting to alternatives like WhatsApp or email for small file transfers. The insights regarding Quick Share's potential support for iPhones stem from the latest update of Google Play Services, which includes code indicating compatibility. Additionally, there is a reference suggesting that users may need to log into their Google account to send files to iPhones. This requirement could imply that the iOS version of Quick Share might need access to a Google account, although details remain unclear. Currently, some manufacturers, such as Oppo and OnePlus, offer file transfer solutions between Android and iPhones using the Oconnect+ app, but this functionality is not available across all brands. As users await the rollout of Quick Share for iOS, they will have to continue using existing methods for wireless file transfers. The timing of these leaks coincides with Apple's anticipated launch of the iPhone 17 series, yet it remains uncertain whether Quick Share will feature in the upcoming iOS 26 update expected in September.
