Google is gearing up for the debut of its Pixel 10 series on August 20, and recent reports indicate that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold is poised to redefine the foldable smartphone landscape. A report from WinFuture reveals that this innovative device is anticipated to be the first foldable phone to achieve an IP68 rating, signifying robust protection against both dust and water. This rating means the smartphone can endure submersion in water up to 1.5 meters for approximately 30 minutes, marking a significant advancement over existing foldable models. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an IP48 rating, while the Pixel 9 Pro Fold offers IPX8 protection, which shields against water but not dust. The new information reinforces earlier leaks from June and July, which hinted that Google was on track to meet the IP68 standard. Additionally, the report highlights an upgrade in storage technology, as the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will transition from UFS 3.1 to the quicker UFS 4.0 standard. This change is expected to enhance read and write speeds, resulting in a more seamless user experience. The complete specifications of the Pixel 10 lineup will be unveiled at Google's launch event next week. In the lead-up to the official announcement, pricing details have surfaced for the various models in India, suggesting that there will be no price increase compared to last year's Pixel 9 series. According to SmartPrix, the base model of the Google Pixel 10 is expected to retail for Rs. 79,990 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage version, while the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL are projected to be priced at Rs. 1,09,999 and Rs. 1,24,999, respectively. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is anticipated to be available for Rs. 1,72,999, with only one configuration offered. There are also mentions of potential bank discounts across all models, with more information likely to be revealed during the launch event. If these predictions hold true, the Pixel 10 series will find itself in the same price bracket as the 2024 Pixel 9 series.
