Google is enhancing its NotebookLM, a key player in the generative AI landscape, with a significant update that introduces the advanced Gemini 3.5 model. This upgrade not only expands support for various file types but also integrates web source functionality more seamlessly than ever before. The incorporation of Antigravity technology promises to enhance the system's capabilities, allowing for more effective handling of user queries. Unveiled during Google I/O earlier this year, Gemini 3.5 is designed for speed and efficiency, offering organizations the opportunity to reduce costs associated with token usage while maintaining or even improving output quality. This transformation reflects Google's commitment to refining its generative AI offerings across its product suite. NotebookLM, which debuted in 2023 amidst the AI revolution, empowers users to analyze specific sources, such as documents and web pages, leveraging cutting-edge AI models. Google has conducted comparative assessments between the previous Gemini 3.1 model and the newly released 3.5 version. While specifics of these evaluations remain somewhat vague, the company has outlined five key dimensions of assessment: Accuracy and Quality, Multilingual Support, Large Document Analysis, Document Creation, and Advanced Research. In these evaluations, Google reports that NotebookLM achieved a commendable 65 percent success rate over its predecessor. Additionally, the introduction of a dedicated “cloud computer” for NotebookLM enables it to utilize Antigravity for coding and executing tasks related to user research objectives. The update will also feature over 100 software skills designed to streamline workflows, allowing users to manage their notebooks more efficiently without the need to switch between various applications.
