In an exciting development, Google has officially integrated its Gemini AI assistant into the Chrome browser, now available for users in India. This rollout follows the feature's initial launch in the United States a year prior, with the company announcing the expansion on March 11, 2026, to include users in New Zealand and Canada as well. One of the standout features of this update is the inclusion of native language support for over 50 languages, with a strong focus on the Indian market. Users in India will have access to Gemini in several regional languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu, and Tamil. This makes it one of the most linguistically diverse AI assistants integrated into a browser to date. Powered by Google's Gemini 3.1 model, the AI assistant is compatible with Mac, Windows, and Chromebook Plus, while also being accessible to iOS users. The integration is designed to enhance the browsing experience by allowing users to access the Gemini assistant directly via an icon located in the upper right corner of the browser. With a simple click, users can open a chat interface in a sidebar, which serves as a personalized browsing assistant capable of summarizing articles, answering questions, and recalling previously visited pages. Notably, Gemini can also operate across multiple tabs simultaneously, enabling users to compare information easily, such as product options across various shopping platforms. Further enriching the experience, Gemini in Chrome is integrated with various Google applications, including Gmail, Maps, Calendar, and YouTube. This integration allows users to seamlessly schedule meetings, access location details, and inquire about video content. In addition to its AI capabilities, Google has introduced the Nano Banana 2 tool directly within Chrome. This feature allows users to generate images through the AI without the need to navigate to the Gemini web version, streamlining the creative process significantly.
