In light of the success seen with OpenAI's popular video editing app, Sora, currently leading the U.S. App Store, Google appears poised to transform its Gemini AI app with a more visually engaging redesign. Recent findings from Android Authority reveal that the tech giant is testing a new interface that transitions away from the traditional chatbot format to a more dynamic, scrollable feed. This overhaul, still in the testing phase and not accessible to the public yet, was uncovered by a reverse engineer who delved into the app's code. The updated home screen design features prominent shortcut buttons for actions like 'Create Image' and 'Deep Research,' followed by an innovative scrollable feed. Among the suggested prompts displayed in the new layout are imaginative ideas for photo manipulation, such as 'teleport me to deep space' or 'give me a vintage or grunge look.' These prompts aim to inspire creativity and guide users in exploring the capabilities of Gemini AI more effectively. Other suggestions include 'brainstorm out loud with Live' and 'send me a daily news roundup,' all designed to enhance user engagement. This redesign not only aims to make the Gemini app more visually appealing but also positions it as a stronger competitor against OpenAI's offerings. As it stands, the ChatGPT app has a more minimalist approach, which contrasts sharply with the exciting features Google is planning. Additionally, the upcoming changes could leverage the popularity of Google's latest AI image model, Nano Banana, which previously propelled the Gemini app to the top of the App Store charts before being overtaken by Sora.
