AI Mode in Search will get more personalised and context-aware for users

Google is set to elevate the search experience with its new feature, 'Personal Intelligence,' now integrated into AI Mode. This expansion follows the recent announcement of the feature within the Gemini app. With Personal Intelligence, AI Mode leverages data from users' Gmail and Google Photos to deliver tailored search results based on personal information such as travel plans, significant events, and favorite places. According to a recent blog post by Google, this innovative approach allows the search engine to understand users' "personal context and insights," thereby streamlining the search process. Users will no longer need to repeatedly provide context, preferences, or plans for each query. Instead, the AI will generate personalized recommendations right from the outset. So, how can users take advantage of Personal Intelligence in AI Mode? When searching for activities or dining options for an upcoming trip, the AI can access pertinent details, such as hotel bookings from Gmail or cherished travel memories from Google Photos. This capability enables the creation of customized itineraries featuring preferred destinations and restaurants, moving away from the traditional, generic suggestions. Additionally, the AI Mode proves beneficial for shopping, offering recommendations for clothing and accessories tailored to users' favored brands, travel arrangements, and destinations. Google describes it as "a personal shopper who already knows your itinerary and the vibe you’re going for." For those looking to engage with their AI, Google has also included fun interactive features. Users can pose whimsical questions, such as “If my life were a movie, what would the title and genre be?” or “Describe my perfect day.” Concerns around privacy are addressed by Google, which emphasizes that connecting Gmail and Google Photos is entirely optional. Users can decide whether or not to link these services to Search. Furthermore, Google reassures that it does not utilize data from users' Gmail inboxes or Google Photos for training its AI models. The rollout of the Personal Intelligence feature in AI Mode is currently available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in the U.S., with support in English.
