Google is one step closer to finalizing its significant acquisition of cloud security firm Wiz for $32 billion. During a Wall Street Journal event, Wiz's CEO Assaf Rappaport announced that the deal has successfully passed the antitrust scrutiny from the U.S. Department of Justice. While this marks a crucial milestone in the acquisition process, Rappaport emphasized that there are still several steps to complete before the transaction officially concludes. The journey to this acquisition began in 2024 when Google first approached Wiz with an offer of $23 billion. However, Rappaport opted to decline that proposal, believing firmly in the potential of his company to achieve even greater success. As it turns out, his instincts were spot on. In early 2025, discussions were rekindled, and Google ultimately proposed a new offer of $32 billion for Wiz, which was publicly announced in March. The acquisition had been under antitrust review since June, as reported by Bloomberg, but now it appears to be on track to close in early 2026, as indicated by Reuters.
