Google brings its Gemini Personal Intelligence feature to India

On Tuesday, Google announced the rollout of its Gemini Personal Intelligence feature for users in India. This innovative tool enables users to link their Google accounts, including Gmail and Google Photos, allowing them to pose questions to Gemini for tailored responses. Once users have connected their services, they can inquire about specifics like, "What are my travel plans for Jaipur?" to extract relevant information from their emails and photos. The feature also incorporates references to recent YouTube videos viewed by users to generate ideas. Google has emphasized that Gemini will cite sources for its answers, providing users with the opportunity to verify any details as needed. Initially, the Personal Intelligence feature will be accessible exclusively to AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in India, although Google is planning to make it available to free users in the upcoming weeks. The introduction of this feature in India marks an expansion of Gemini's capabilities into one of the company's major markets. Gemini's Personal Intelligence first appeared in beta in the U.S. back in January, was expanded to all U.S. users in March, and has also been launched in Japan. However, Google has issued a caution regarding the feature's limitations. Gemini might not always grasp the context within users' data accurately and could link unrelated topics. For example, it may misinterpret a plethora of photos from a golf course as an indication of a passion for golf, overlooking the nuance that the user was actually there to support a family member. If Gemini gets it wrong, users can correct it by simply indicating their true interests. This swift rollout of advanced AI tools in India, one of Google's largest markets, follows the earlier launch of Gemini in Chrome for Indian users in March. Recently, Google also facilitated a seamless AI-driven restaurant booking experience in India through partnerships with platforms like Zomato, Swiggy, and EazyDiner.
