Google celebrates Diwali with interactive animation on search - How to view it

As Diwali approaches on October 20, Google has launched an exciting interactive animation on its search page to mark the occasion. Breaking away from its traditional static or animated Doodles, the tech giant has introduced a vibrant Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) that brings a festive touch to its platform. When users search for 'Diwali' on Google, they are greeted with a colorful GIF in the bottom right corner of the page. This festive graphic showcases a traditional Diwali arrangement, featuring an elaborate golden lamp stand topped with a peacock figure. Surrounding this centerpiece are several lit diyas, or earthen lamps, contributing to the celebratory atmosphere. Clicking on the animated image reveals a depiction of Goddess Lakshmi, who is revered during Diwali. Accompanying her is a plate filled with delicious sweets, including laddoos and jalebis, further enhancing the festive spirit. The scene is illuminated by numerous diyas, creating a warm and inviting ambiance. The second day of the Diwali celebrations, known as Choti Diwali or Naraka Chaturdashi, falls on October 19 this year. This significant day commemorates the victory of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, over the demon Narakasura, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. Choti Diwali is steeped in rich traditions. On this day, it is customary to crush a bitter berry called kareet underfoot, symbolizing the defeat of ignorance and evil. Rituals such as the Abhyang Snan, a holy bath taken before sunrise, are also performed. Devotees apply a mixture of rose water, Ganga water, and sesame oil on their bodies prior to bathing, marking this day as Roop Chaudas or Roop Chaturdashi. As the sun sets on Choti Diwali, homes are adorned with diyas and candles to welcome Goddess Lakshmi, ensuring that the spirit of the festival is felt throughout the community. This innovative celebration by Google highlights the cultural significance of Diwali and invites users to partake in the joy of the festival.
