In an exciting announcement on Wednesday, Google introduced its latest device protection initiative, Pixel Care+. This program is set to replace the existing Google Preferred Care and Fi Device Protection services in the United States. Current subscribers will automatically transition to the new offering in the coming months. Pixel Care+ aims to deliver a superior level of coverage, service, and reassurance for owners of Google hardware. Key features of the program include unlimited claims for accidental damage, extended warranty claims, and protection against mechanical faults. Users will also benefit from $0 costs for screen and battery repairs, as well as $0 fees for post-warranty malfunction claims. In addition to these perks, Pixel Care+ subscribers will receive genuine Google parts for replacements and priority assistance from Pixel specialists. The program also allows for self-service claims through the Google Store website and offers optional coverage for loss and theft. Notably, users will enjoy upgraded shipping options for replacements, including next-day delivery. Pricing for Pixel Care+ varies depending on the device. For instance, securing coverage for a Pixel 10 is priced at $10 per month or $199 for a two-year term. As of Wednesday, the program is available for new eligible devices, which include the Pixel 8 and newer models, the Pixel Watch 2 and later, the Pixel Tablet, as well as several Fitbit devices like the Ace LTE and Charge 6. Customers have a 60-day window from the date of purchase to add the coverage, and claims can be easily initiated via the Google Store or the My Pixel App.
