Google brings improved Gemini features to its new Pixel Buds

During the recent Made By Google event, the tech giant showcased a series of innovative features tied to its Gemini platform, enhancing the user experience across various devices. Among the highlights were the new functionalities for the Pixel Buds 2a and the upgraded Pixel Buds Pro 2, both of which promise to redefine how users interact with their audio devices. The Pixel Buds 2a, now in their second generation, introduce active noise cancellation for the first time, a significant leap from their predecessor, which lacked any noise reduction capabilities. This upgrade allows users to enjoy clearer conversations by effectively blocking out distracting external sounds. Additionally, the earbuds will feature Clear Calling technology, leveraging Google AI to minimize background noise, ensuring that both parties can communicate without interruptions. Transparency Mode is another exciting addition, previously exclusive to the Pixel Buds Pro. This feature allows users to remain aware of their surroundings while enjoying their audio, making it a practical choice for those who need to stay alert in various environments. Furthermore, the Pixel Buds 2a will include Gemini hands-free support, enabling users to interact with the AI assistant seamlessly for tasks such as checking for nearby dining options or managing music playback, all without needing to pull out their phones. In terms of design, the new earbuds are the lightest and smallest in the A-Series lineup, complemented by a compact charging case. They also boast an IP54 rating, providing sweat and water resistance, which is perfect for workouts or unexpected weather. A twist stabilizer feature allows for a customizable fit, ensuring comfort for prolonged use. However, this impressive array of features comes at a higher price, with the Pixel Buds 2a retailing at $130, a rise from their predecessor's price of under $100, and they are available in two stylish new colors: Hazel and Iris. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 also received noteworthy enhancements. Users can now accept or decline calls and messages with simple gestures, thanks to built-in accelerometers and sensors. The new updates will enable interaction with various applications, such as adding items to a grocery list or scheduling events directly with the AI assistant. Additionally, features like Adaptive Audio will automatically adjust the sound based on the surrounding environment, while Loud Noise Protection will safeguard users from sudden loud noises, preserving their hearing health. These enhancements to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, which retail for $230, will be available through a software update later this month, ensuring existing users can benefit from the latest features. Customers eager to experience these advancements can pre-order both the Pixel Buds 2a and the improved Pro 2 earbuds, with the latter set to ship on August 28 and the former available starting October 9.
