In a strategic move to enhance its competitive edge, Google has introduced the AI Plus subscription service in India. This new offering bridges the gap between the free tier and the more advanced AI Pro subscription, starting at an attractive price of ₹199 for the initial six months for new users. The AI Plus subscription, regularly priced at ₹399 per month, is designed to rival the entry-level ChatGPT Go, which is currently available for free for one year. The plan allows subscribers to share benefits with up to five family members at no additional cost, making it a family-friendly option. Users who opt for AI Plus will gain access to the advanced Gemini 3 Pro, Google's flagship model that leads in performance benchmarks. Additionally, subscribers will enjoy enhanced features from Nano Banana Pro, the latest model for image generation and editing. Although both models are also available to free users, the access is considerably limited; AI Plus subscribers will experience up to five times more access compared to the basic tier. Furthermore, the AI Plus plan provides limited access to the Veo 3.1 fast video generation model, while higher-tier users enjoy expanded or full access. The subscription also includes enhanced research capabilities through NotebookLM, allowing users to create up to 20 presentation slides per day. Incorporating essential productivity tools like Flow, the AI Plus subscription enables seamless integration of Gemini into everyday applications such as Gmail and Docs. Moreover, subscribers will receive 200GB of cloud storage shared across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail, in contrast to the 2TB and 30TB offered to AI Pro and AI Ultra users, respectively. Additionally, Google is currently promoting a 1.5-year complimentary AI Pro subscription exclusive to Jio users, further incentivizing new sign-ups. With these offerings, Google aims to solidify its position in the competitive AI landscape, catering to a wide range of user needs and preferences.
