This capability is now available on iOS devices and has broadened its reach to numerous countries, including the U.S., India, Mexico, Germany, Spain, France, Nigeria, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Bangladesh, and Thailand. Previously exclusive to Android users in a few regions, this feature transforms any compatible headphones into a one-way translation device. Utilizing Google's advanced Gemini AI, Live Translate preserves the original tone, emphasis, and cadence of each speaker, making it easier for listeners to follow conversations and identify who is speaking. This functionality can prove invaluable in various scenarios, such as understanding family discussions during dinner or catching crucial train announcements while traveling abroad. With support for over 70 languages, users can easily access Live Translate by launching the Google Translate app, selecting the “Live Translate” option, and connecting their headphones. This announcement coincides with Google's unveiling of an expansion for its AI-driven conversational search feature, Search Live, which is now available globally in over 200 countries and territories, enhancing user interaction with real-time visual context. Search Live, which debuted in July 2025, enables users to utilize their phone's camera for immediate assistance and engage in dynamic conversations based on visual inputs. To activate this feature, users simply need to open the Google app on their Android or iOS device and tap the Live icon located beneath the Search bar.
