In a significant update, Google has unveiled a new shortcut feature for Vids, its AI-driven video creation tool, aimed at enhancing the editing experience for users of Google Drive. Announced on Friday, this innovation allows Workspace users to easily start video edits directly from the Drive interface. When previewing a video in Google Drive, users will now find an 'Open' button located in the top right corner. Clicking this button seamlessly opens the video in the Vids application. Once launched, Vids facilitates various editing tasks, including trimming clips and adding music or text. This newly integrated shortcut, which is enabled by default, indicates Google's commitment to closely aligning Vids with its Workspace suite. Initially launched last year, Vids is designed to simplify video production, offering features such as generating videos from simple text prompts, automatically creating scripts, rearranging clips, and incorporating transitions. This update follows another recent enhancement from Google, which introduced a Gemini AI feature for Workspace users in May. This feature allows users to utilize AI for summarizing video files housed in Google Drive, further expanding the capabilities of the platform.
