Google Cloud has unveiled a significant multi-year collaboration with the innovative AI coding platform Replit, marking a strategic move to bolster its competitive edge against rivals like Anthropic and Cursor. This alliance will enable Replit to broaden its utilization of Google Cloud services, incorporate more of Google’s advanced models into its offerings, and cater to AI coding applications for enterprise clients. As part of this partnership, Google will maintain its role as Replit's primary cloud service provider. Founded nearly ten years ago, Replit has emerged as a frontrunner in the burgeoning field of AI vibe-coding, which has seen explosive growth in recent months. The startup recently completed a $250 million funding round that nearly tripled its valuation to an impressive $3 billion. In less than a year, Replit has reported a staggering increase in annual revenue from $2.8 million to $150 million. According to new insights from Ramp, a fintech company that monitors enterprise spending, Replit is leading in new customer acquisition among software vendors. Concurrently, Google is witnessing a rapid increase in new customers and spending, establishing a fertile ground for collaboration between the two entities. Vibe-coding gained traction earlier this year as AI models became proficient in generating code through simple natural language prompts. This opens the door for users with minimal programming expertise to leverage AI in developing functional code and even complete applications. In a related development, Anthropic has reported that its product, Claude Code, has achieved a run-rate revenue of $1 billion. Additionally, Cursor, another player in the coding space, reached a valuation of $29.3 billion following a funding round last November and reported $1 billion in annualized revenue. Replit’s user-friendly approach positions it as a potential catalyst for driving Google Cloud adoption among enterprises, extending the reach of Google’s AI initiatives beyond traditional software engineers. Meanwhile, Google continues to build on the momentum of its high-performing model, Gemini 3, with Alphabet shares rising over 12% since its introduction.
