During its recent Made by Google event, the tech giant introduced the Pixel Watch 4, boasting a sleek domed display and groundbreaking features. This smartwatch, available in both 41mm and 45mm sizes, starts at $349 for the Wi-Fi model and $449 for LTE. The larger variant begins at $399 for Wi-Fi and $499 for LTE. One of the standout features is the Actua 360 display, which has been physically curved to provide a 10% larger active area, along with a stunning edgeless look thanks to 16% smaller bezels. The display also shines brighter than ever, with a luminosity of 3,000 nits. The LTE models of the Pixel Watch 4 come equipped with emergency satellite communications, enabling users to contact emergency services via geo-stationary satellites, ensuring help is accessible even in remote areas. This impressive capability is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Wearable Platform. In a bid to improve user interaction, Google has introduced a feature allowing users to activate Gemini simply by raising their wrist, eliminating the need for pressing buttons or voice commands. This makes it easier to seek assistance while engaged in activities such as grocery shopping or walking a dog. The Pixel Watch 4 also incorporates advanced AI functionalities, including Smart Replies, which generate contextually appropriate responses during conversations. Furthermore, battery life has been extended by 25% compared to its predecessor, offering up to 30 hours on the 41mm model and 40 hours on the 45mm variant. Users will also benefit from a new fast charging dock, making recharge times quicker. The watch is designed to withstand water up to 50 meters and features a replaceable battery and display for the first time, enhancing its longevity. Under the hood, it houses a next-generation ML-powered co-processor that delivers 25% faster performance while consuming less power. For health and fitness enthusiasts, the Pixel Watch 4 provides enhanced tracking capabilities, being 18% more accurate in classifying sleep cycles and monitoring time spent in different sleep stages. Notably, a new Skin Temperature sensor can help users monitor changes in their health status. Additionally, the new dual-frequency GPS offers precise route tracking in challenging environments, whether navigating city streets or hiking through wooded areas. Should users forget to initiate a workout, the watch's AI technology will automatically detect and categorize the activity. To further enhance the fitness experience, Google is introducing a personal AI health coach, which will provide tailored fitness and sleep advice based on data collected from the watch. This innovative feature aims to deliver 24/7 guidance, allowing users to ask questions related to their health and wellness. A preview of this health coach will be available for users with Fitbit devices or the Pixel Watch in the U.S. starting this October. The Pixel Watch 4 is currently available for preorder and will hit retail shelves on October 9.
