Google has unveiled its budget-friendly AI Plus plan, now accessible in over 40 nations, including Angola, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Egypt, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines, Senegal, Uganda, Vietnam, and Zimbabwe. Initially introduced in Indonesia at a price of Rp 75,000 (approximately $4.50) per month, this plan generally retails for around $5 in most regions. To boost adoption, Google is offering a 50% discount for the first six months in select countries such as Nepal and Mexico. The AI Plus tier provides users with access to the advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro, along with innovative tools for creating images and videos like Flow, Whisk, and Veo 3 Fast. Subscribers also benefit from enhanced features on Google’s AI research assistant, NotebookLM, and can utilize AI functionalities across Gmail, Docs, and Sheets, all while enjoying 200GB of cloud storage. This announcement comes just a day after OpenAI extended its under-$5 ChatGPT Go plan to Indonesia. Interestingly, India, which was the first to see the rollout of ChatGPT Go by OpenAI, is not included in Google’s new offering. While both tech giants maintain a $20 per month base plan, these newly introduced lower-cost tiers aim to attract more users in regions where a $20 subscription may be unaffordable.
