In a bold move towards the future of search, Google is ramping up its AI capabilities with the introduction of 'Personal Intelligence' in AI Mode. This new feature, which is designed to provide more contextually relevant responses, is now available for users subscribed to Google AI Pro or AI Ultra. As of today, Google is rolling out this update, but it’s important to note that users will need to enable it manually as it’s still classified as a Labs feature. Subscribers will receive prompts to activate this functionality. Historically, Google has expanded access to new features for free accounts after a period, so it’s likely that broader access to Personal Intelligence will follow. For those who choose to integrate their data, AI Mode will have the ability to analyze information from Gmail and Google Photos. This functionality is somewhat limited compared to the Gemini app, which encompasses Gmail, Photos, Search, and YouTube history. Nonetheless, Gmail is expected to be the primary source of data, as it holds numerous confirmations and communications tied to significant life events. While traditional search results are tailored based on usage history, the addition of Personal Intelligence takes personalization a step further. This innovative feature allows users to obtain highly relevant information without having to manually provide context in their queries. By linking data from various Google apps, Google’s advanced Gemini search model can quickly access and understand user preferences, ultimately streamlining the search experience. With Personal Intelligence, AI Mode can seamlessly draw upon your email and photo data to enhance the relevance of its responses.
