Google is now letting users in the US change their Gmail address

In a significant update announced on Tuesday, Google is introducing a feature that allows users in the United States to change their Gmail addresses without the need to create a new account or lose any data. This new capability is a game-changer for those looking for a fresh start while retaining their existing information. To utilize this feature, users can navigate to their Google Account settings. From there, they should click on 'Personal info,' then 'Email,' and finally select the 'Google Account email' option. A new button labeled 'Change Google Account email' will be available, initiating the process to modify their username. However, it’s important to note that users can only change their usernames once every 12 months, and they won’t be able to delete their new email address during that time frame. Google has assured that all previous emails will remain intact, with the old address functioning as an alternate for the account. This means users can continue to access Google services using both their old and new addresses. Additionally, reports suggest that this feature is gradually being rolled out, and some users in Hindi-speaking regions have already begun to see it in action, as highlighted by 9to5Google. As the rollout continues, not all users may have immediate access to this functionality, but it marks a positive step toward greater flexibility in managing Gmail accounts.
