'Generation gap': After Samsung Google taunts Apple over iPhone 17 series launch

In a bold move shortly after Apple's unveiling of the iPhone 17 series at their 'Awe Dropping' event, Google has launched an advertisement titled "Generation Gap" that pokes fun at the iPhone's lack of advanced AI features, unlike its own Pixel devices. The ad humorously depicts the iPhone buried in corn at a chicken farm, dressed as a carnival barker, while the Pixel devices approach and tease it about the creative possibilities offered by Google's Gemini AI. The advertisement concludes with the catchy tagline, "Ask more of your phone," while promoting the new Pixel 10 series, which includes a complimentary one-year subscription to Gemini Pro, providing users with access to Gemini's latest functionalities, including video and image generation. This isn't the first time Google has taken aim at Apple; the tech giant has been actively promoting its "Best Phones Forever" campaign, emphasizing the supposed advantages of the Pixel lineup over iPhones. A significant point of contention for consumers has been Apple's inconsistent rollout of AI features over the past year, with some features, such as the revamped Siri, still not fully operational more than a year after their announcement. Speculation suggests that Apple may incorporate a Gemini model to enhance Siri's capabilities, as they have already utilized ChatGPT for handling complex inquiries. In a related jab, Samsung also joined the fray, reminding Apple that it has yet to release a foldable phone, seven years after Samsung's initial model hit the market. Samsung referenced an old post from 2022, saying, "Let us know when it folds," and added the caption, "#iCant believe this is still relevant." The newly launched iPhone models are set to compete directly with Samsung's Galaxy S25 series, which features the Galaxy S25, S25 Air, S25+, and S25 Ultra. Additionally, Apple introduced the iPhone Air, the company's slimmest device to date, measuring just 5.6mm in thickness and weighing 165g. Details surrounding the expected pricing, features, and launch dates for the iPhone 17, Pro, Pro Max, and Air models are anticipated by tech enthusiasts.
