In a landmark initiative, tech powerhouse Google has teamed up with venture capital firm Accel to significantly boost India’s AI start-up landscape. This collaboration represents the inaugural global venture of the Google AI Futures Fund, aimed at co-investing in a minimum of 10 promising early-stage AI companies through the Atoms AI Cohort 2026 program. Start-ups eligible for this funding can be founded by entrepreneurs of Indian descent, and they will benefit from a robust financial package coupled with technical support. Each selected company can receive as much as $2 million (around ₹17.84 Crore) in combined funding from both Accel and the AI Futures Fund. Additionally, they will gain access to a technical support suite that includes up to $350,000 (approximately ₹3.12 Crore) in cloud credits across Google Cloud, Gemini, and DeepMind platforms. This initiative not only offers essential financial backing but also provides founders with unparalleled access to Google’s cutting-edge AI models, such as Gemini and DeepMind. Mentorship from Accel partners and Google’s technical experts is an integral part of the support system, equipping entrepreneurs with the expertise needed to thrive in the competitive global market. Accel and Google are particularly interested in start-ups focusing on innovative AI applications in critical areas including coding, workplace productivity, creativity, and entertainment. This strategic move follows Google's recent announcement of a $15 billion investment over five years to establish an AI data center in Andhra Pradesh, marking its largest investment commitment in India to date.
