Reddit is experiencing a significant outage impacting users around the world, as reported by outage tracking service Downdetector. At the peak of the issues, more than 250 complaints were logged, particularly around 3:55 PM. The breakdown of complaints indicates that 48% of users encountered difficulties with the Reddit website, while 42% faced issues through the app, and 10% reported server connectivity problems. Interestingly, despite these widespread complaints, Reddit's official status page claims that there are no ongoing issues with either its website or app. This discrepancy has raised questions among users who are facing disruptions. In recent months, various outages affecting multiple platforms have been noted, although this particular incident does not appear to align with a larger trend. Notably, Cloudflare, a key service provider for many websites, recently experienced outages that impacted numerous popular sites. The last significant Cloudflare outage occurred on December 5, causing several platforms such as Zerodha, Angel One, and Deliveroo to go offline, resulting in a '500 Internal Server Error' for users. Additionally, Cloudflare suffered another outage last month that disrupted services including X, Perplexity, ChatGPT, and Anthropic. Moreover, an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage recently caused over 15 hours of interruptions across more than 60 countries, affecting platforms like Snapchat, Slack, and Fortnite. In October, Microsoft also faced a major eight-hour outage, disrupting services like Microsoft Teams and Outlook, which affected the operations of thousands of users. As the situation continues to unfold, those affected by the Reddit outage are left seeking clarity on the ongoing issues. Stay tuned for further updates as this story develops.
