PM Modi, French President Macron, UN Chief Guterres to address India AI Impact Summit 2026 today

The highly anticipated India AI Impact Summit 2026 kicked off today at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurating the event. This summit has attracted over 500 prominent figures in the AI sector, including CEOs, founders, and leading researchers from around the world. Notable speakers at the opening ceremony include President Emmanuel Macron of France and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who will join PM Modi to discuss the transformative potential of artificial intelligence. Modi expressed his enthusiasm for welcoming leaders from various nations, including more than 20 heads of state and around 60 ministers and vice-ministers. Dignitaries such as Kristalina Georgieva, Chief of the International Monetary Fund, and leaders from Sri Lanka, Bhutan, and several European nations are also in attendance. The summit operates under the theme 'Sarvajan Hitay, Sarvajan Sukhay,' which emphasizes the commitment to using AI for the collective benefit and welfare of all. Throughout the summit, discussions will focus on how AI can drive inclusive growth and promote overall wellbeing. Modi has scheduled bilateral meetings with various global leaders and will participate in a Leaders' Plenary, where governance and international cooperation regarding AI will be key topics. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore the India AI Impact Expo 2026, visit country pavilions, and engage in a CEO roundtable to address issues around investment, research collaboration, and AI deployment. The summit is structured around seven working groups that focus on critical areas such as Economic Growth, Social Empowerment, and Safe AI practices. These groups operate under three foundational pillars: People, Planet, and Progress, aiming to achieve tangible outcomes that showcase AI's positive impact across various sectors. The event will run until February 20, involving over 100 government representatives and a wide array of stakeholders from both industry and academia.
