Users can like, comment, and even remix existing creations to craft their unique versions. Getting started with Gizmo is simple and accessible, requiring no coding knowledge. Users need only to describe their ideas in natural language, and the app utilizes AI technology to generate the necessary code for the interactive experience. Additionally, Gizmo visually renders the concept to ensure seamless functionality. To maintain a safe environment, every creation undergoes both AI and human moderation, as noted in the company’s FAQ. Atma Sciences, the New York-based startup behind Gizmo, was co-founded by Rudd Fawcett, Brandon Francis, CEO Josh Siegel, and CTO Daniel Amitay. The company successfully raised $5.49 million in seed funding last year from investors, including First Round Capital, as reported by PitchBook. Gizmo’s mission is to blend powerful technology with elegant simplicity, starting with their creativity-focused app. Despite being a newcomer in the app landscape, Gizmo’s feed is refreshingly diverse, reminiscent of a combination of TikTok and the interactive design platform Rooms. While Rooms introduced a programming language for advanced users, Gizmo simplifies the creative process by keeping it prompt-based. The app’s user interface is designed for ease of use: type a prompt, see the output, and modify as necessary. For instance, in an experiment, the AI quickly generated a mini quiz, which required a minor adjustment to fix a title issue. Users can share their creations via the app’s feed or on social media through unique URLs. According to market intelligence firm Appfigures, Gizmo has achieved approximately 600,000 installs, with about half originating from the United States since its quiet launch less than six months ago. Notably, December alone accounted for 235,000 downloads, marking a substantial 39% of its total installs. From October to December, Gizmo saw a remarkable growth of 312%, with December installations increasing by 50% compared to November. Gizmo is available for download on both iOS and Android platforms, making it accessible to a broad audience eager to explore the world of interactive mini applications.
